BioRhythm Calendar
Biorhythms - cycles for a living form (unofficial definition)
Many things work in cycles. Everyone is familiar with a day. A day is the cycle of the Earth rotating on it's axis in regards to it's rotation around the Sun. Many travelers know the feeling of jet lag. Jet lag is where a person is used to the daily cycles of one place and then moves quickly to another place before the body has a chance to adjust to new daily cycle.
The human biorhythm theory was formed in the 1800's. This theory advocates that everyone functions on three basic life cycles called biorhythms. These cycles start on the day a person is born. The three basic cycles are physical, emotional, and intellectual. Some people add a fourth called intuitive. Each biorhythm has three phases, a high phase, a low phase and a critical phase. The easiest was to view this cycle is as a wave form, know as a sine wave. These waves continue for the rest of our lives.
The Physical wave is a cycle of 23 days. It controls our energy, endurance, initiative, stamina, vigor and vitality. When our physical cycle is up, we usually feel better, and have a lot of energy. When the cycle is down, we are more likely to tire easily and be suseptible to illness.
The Emotional cycle is 28 days and has the power over sensitivity and temperment. When our emotional cycle is up, we are more apt to be happy, sensous, and creative. When wave is down, we are more likely to be depressed, irritable, moody or bad tempered.
The Intellectual wave is a cycle of 33 days. The Intellectual cycle has more effect over how smart we feel. Granted none of us want to say we did something dumb, but... When our Intellectual cycle is up, we are more likely to remember things better, do better on tests, and solve problems more quickly and effectively. When the cycle is down, we are more likely to have problems concentrating and make decisions of questionable merit.
Critical times are when the wave cross from negative levels to positive and positive to negative. On a graph that would be zero. Thus in every complete cycle, we cross zero twice. Once on the up swing and once on the down swing. On the days where we cross the zero line our system is more likely to be in chaos. There is more chance that things will go wrong and we are more likely to have an accident.
